Effective date:
This policy explains what the ARUS Vox apps (iOS, iPadOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Ubuntu) and ARUS Vox servers handle, and why. ARUS Vox is made by WD BROADCAST AND SOLUTIONS (“WEDOBROADCAST”, “we”), Malaysia.
1. Who controls your data
ARUS Vox apps connect to an intercom server run by your organisation (your employer, production company or client):
- Self-hosted server: your organisation runs it and controls all data on it. We have no access to it.
- ARUS Vox Cloud: we host the server for your organisation and process its data only to provide the service, under our agreement with them.
For questions about your account, contact your organisation’s ARUS Vox administrator first.
2. What the app handles
- Account details: your username and display name, created by your administrator. You can’t create an account in the app.
- Sign-in: the server address you enter, plus a sign-in token. Both are stored securely on your device (Keychain on iOS, encrypted storage on Android) until you sign out.
- Voice audio: captured only while you’re in a session, sent encrypted to your server, and mixed live for the people on your lines. ARUS Vox does not record or store audio.
- Connection quality: network type (Wi-Fi, mobile data, Ethernet), round-trip time, jitter and packet loss, sent to your server so operators can see call quality.
- Device information: platform (for example iOS or Android) and app version, so the server can show what each person is using.
- Settings on your device: microphone and speaker levels, voice clarity on or off, and the Wi-Fi or mobile data preference. These stay on your device.
Voice clarity (noise reduction) runs entirely on your device. No audio is sent anywhere else for processing.
3. What we don’t do
- No advertising and no ad trackers.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- We don’t sell or rent personal data.
- Your data is shared only with the server your organisation runs or chose. With ARUS Vox Cloud, that includes us as the host.
4. Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone: to talk on intercom lines. Used only while you’re in a session.
- Local network (iOS): to reach a server on your venue’s network.
- Bluetooth (Android): to use Bluetooth headsets.
- Notifications (Android): to show the ongoing-call notification Android requires for a call in the background.
5. What the server keeps
Your organisation’s server keeps your account, which sessions and lines you belong to, a history of when you joined and left, and a log of operator actions (for example a mute or a removal). How long these are kept is up to your organisation. With ARUS Vox Cloud, we delete them when your organisation’s subscription ends, or earlier at its request.
6. Licensing
ARUS Vox servers check their license with our license service. This sends the server’s ID, its software version, and the number of users and sessions. It does not send names, accounts or audio.
7. Security
Audio uses 256-bit encryption between the app and server, with a new key for every session. Sign-in uses HTTPS when your server has it enabled.
8. Children
ARUS Vox is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13.
9. Your rights
Under Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and similar laws, you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data. Ask your organisation’s administrator, who can edit or delete your account. For ARUS Vox Cloud, you can also contact our privacy team.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell customers in advance.
